What a great idea to share this helpful strategy on Tiny Bites, Britt. When you mentioned it the other day, I thought it was fantastic! I was reading an article on Psychology Today (https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/feeling-it/201711/phubbing-the-1-phone-habit-drop-better-relationships) that talks about this issue, since my curiosity had been piqued, and our suspicions on the impact of too much phone use around others were completely accurate! I think you might find the article very interesting. It seems that alienating others by using our phones in their presence actually creates a vicious circle of this kind of behaviour: we snub others for social media, who then turn to social media to deal with the alienation, and who’s to say how many other people they, in turn, will affect with their antisocial behaviour? And on the cycle goes. Great podcast, Britt! Thanks for sharing your tips and insights, as always.

That was such an interesting article! I love the idea of being present in the moment with whoever you are with, from the mailman to your partner. I think that kind of habit goes a lot way to being a more empathetic person, which the world can certainly use more of these days.

I’ve definitely been phubbed and I’ve been a phubber. I want to get a lot better on that front. My phone have to start being locked in a box when I come home from work! Thanks for sharing, Lisa!
