Tiny Bites 02: Dealing With Book Clutter

Tiny Bites is back! Sorry, I left you guys hanging last week. Last minute moving snafu’s derailed my plans to record an episode.

Since I wrote a review of four different books on the blog this week, I wanted to take some time in Tiny Bites to talk about what you can do with your books when they are no longer adding value to your life. This isn’t an exhaustive list by any means, just my favorite ways to minimize a book collection.

Click on the ‘Play’ button below and the episode will play directly in your browser.

If you want to go the extra mile, download Anchor (AppleGoogle) and call in with a comment or question to my station!

Do you have any tips for dealing with book clutter? What do you do with your books when they no longer add value to your life? Let me know in the comments!

Excellent points when it comes to dealing with book clutter, Britt! I have done all of these except sell books online (which I think is a great idea, I’m just way too lazy to actually do it!). This year, for the first time ever, I have actually been feeling content with the number of books I own. Pre-minimalism, I was completely overwhelmed by the quantity I had acquired. I kept only those books that I knew I would reread and that I truly love. To avoid acquiring any more, like you I borrow religiously from the library (and I also use an awesome e-book/e-audiobook app that I can access for free via my library), or if I see a secondhand book I want to read, I’ll buy it but I make sure I donate it back straight after finishing it to avoid slipping into book clutter mode again!!

I’ve also never sold books (pure laziness). I never felt overwhelmed by the books I owned, but I did get to a point where I didn’t want to have to move them again. Once I had that realization, it was so much easier to part with them. I’m glad you’re happy with the books you have now- they probably add so much value to your life! Thanks for listening!
